Happy Valentine's Day!!

In the US and other parts of the world – they celebrate today as Valentine’s Day. Evan handed out Veggie Tales Valentines to his friends at Ms. Lynn’s house. And we together made two handmade Vday cards for Ms. Lynn and for Daddy. It’s really cute and I got the idea from a family-friendly website called: www.Familyfun.com.

I started my day off – busy! I went to the doctor’s b/c my throat has been hurting since Sunday. Cy just went to the docs yesterday and was diagnosed with a very bad sinus infection, along with pink eye. So, he’s taking antibiotics and eye drops and also musinex to help clear up his congestion. With that said, I thought I should go to the doctor’s to get checked out and make sure that I don’t have strep throat. I was there exactly at 7 am – just a walk-in, no appointment. After an hour and a half, and a strep test – I found out I don’t have strep and I just have a sore throat. GO FIGURE! So, I left the docs, drove home, got Evan dressed (he was at home with sick daddy Cy), took off to drove Evan off at Ms. Lynn’s house and got to work at 9:15 am. Then I left work at 11:30, drove on my side of town to Panera’s bakery to pick up some soup to take to Cy. It was a surprise to him. When I got home, he seemed a little better, and even happier knowing that I left work to bring him lunch. That’s my valentine’s lunch to him.
Ate lunch with him, got back in the car – now I’m back at work. I was only gone for an hour. That’s pretty good timing considering that I work downtown Columbia, and live 20 mins. away.

So, now its 1:30 and I’m just now calming down from my morning. Whew….have I been busy!

Though it’s a day of recognition of love for someone you love, admire, etc… -- you shouldn’t wait till this day comes. You should celebrate love everyday!! Show your love and your appreciation for the one that you love EVERY TIME!!

Happy Monday!

Another weekend gone by... it was a nice weekend for us. We didn't do too much, although our house is a mess, and filing papers would have been nice. We instead enjoyed going to the park with Evan and just "vegging" around the house. My parents celebrated another anniversary last Friday. THIRTY-FIVE YEARS of marriage. That's so awesome!

I went scrapbooking yesterday at a neighbors house. It was fun and very relaxing for me. It was a different kind of relaxtion. I had the chance to enjoy talking to other women and just talking about everyday life. It was good for me to just get away from being a mommy. Cy and Evan went to the park while I was gone. It was just so nice to have some time to myself. I need that every-now-and-then.

This week -- clean the house. That's on my to-do list!

February is Black History Month

I finished the W2's for our company - on time! Everyone got theirs on the 30th of Jan. As for our personal taxes, the donations/contributions for 2006 are trickling in our mail every day. We're waiting for a few more, and still have to close out the shop's 06' bookkeeping before we file our income taxes with U. Sam. Lovely!

On another note ~ my title heading reads "Black History Month". And it makes me ponder on the meaning of this month and how it'll effect Evan in the future. Okay - here's an eye opener for those who do not know the ethnicity of our child. Evan is 25% Black, 25% White, 25% Hawaiian and 25% Japanese. Can I say MIXED to THE MAX!! Everyone knows my nationality, but yet sometimes gets confused when they see Cy. Who by the way - makes up for the 25% black/25% white in Evan. Most mistake him to be Indian or Pakistani, and then most can't even guess what he is. As you can see, Evan looks very much like his daddy. His skin color is not white, but has a little tan look to him. He has very curly, Hawaiian-textured hair, but has the legs of the Japanese side of my family. Go-figure! Isn't God awesome on how he created Evan to be? Oh, one more thing - I went to the DMV to get a new driver's license because mine fell apart. So, one of the questions asked was my nationality. Choices: Black, White, Asian, American Indian. THAT'S IT! I asked if they had Pacific Islander. Nope! Well, what if I'm neither of the choices, I asked. I still had to choose. With frowed eyebrows....I chose Asian - BUT, I'm not fully Asian. Personal opinion -- they need to have Pacific Islander on there. I'm very sensitive when it comes to talking about ethnic backgrounds.

THREE more months and Evan will be 2 years old. The latest thing he does is grab your hand (or shirt, sweater - anything in his reach) and take you to what he wants you to see. It's the cutest thing! Have a wonderful weekend!

Aloha!
Wendy
