Tax season time

Oh - here's the finger painting picture Evan created two weeks ago.

How fun! Taxes! Not just any taxes -- ALL TAXES! I'm starting to gather everything up for the shop account and also for our personal taxes. I'm also doing W2's for the company I work for. Not too bad this year, since I have a template set on my computer already.

On another note, nothing new to report. Oh - my friend Donna and Ed had their baby. They had Jack last Friday instead of the planned day - Monday. All is fine with them, and they should be going home today.

On another, nother note...there's supposedly suppose to be a family reunion for the Hawaiian side of my family. There's a poll for the location: Hana, Las Vegas or Oahu. I guess I should put my 2 cents in, right Uncle Kammy? Still haven't decided yet - though I haven't been to Vegas before, and I hear its quite the place to be to have some fun -- that would be my first choice. You know, since it is on the mainland and its a lot closer for me. Plus its less expensive then going back home. For those of you who don't know -- going to Hawaii is EXPENSIVE. LIVING THERE is EXPENSIVE. EVERYTHING is EXPENSIVE. Get my drift? Thus, we choose to live on the mainland. South Carolina isn't too bad. I'd love to be back home now in the nice warm sun on a sandy beach -- but I'm here, sitting at a desk with cold hands, scarf around my neck and heater blowing on my legs. Gotta love this weather :)

Another week ovah!

Yeah - another weekend to enjoy! And I'm so glad its gotten warmer. Columbia had a "big scare" with the supposedly frightening ice storm yesterday. They delayed schools for two hours. Of course living in the DC Metro area, I know how to drive in such retched weather....BUT locals here do not! So, I was cautious and safe - I left the house 15 minutes earlier, just in case I ran into an accident or something. The great thing about this -- I got to work 10 minutes earlier.

Activities for this weekend? Probably go to the park and also check out a Children's Garden near Sandhills Village. Not too far from where we live....just drive on I-26 to I-20 and we'd be there in ummm....25 minutes. OH - I also have to gather up receipts and tax stuff in preparation for both personal and our business tax stuff. Fun! Fun! Fun!

I figured it out....

I figured out why God made me five feet tall!! Being this short has allowed me to climb up in Chick-Fil-A playgrounds, slide down tube slides, crawl on my hands and knees all while playing with Evan. Last night we went to EdVenture Children’s Museum and they had this massive display of a 10-year-old kid called EDDIE (see the picture). Well, as you can see he’s pretty BIG! 40-foot, 17.5-ton BIG! Behind him, you can crawl up inside and explore Eddie’s insides (vertebrae to his brain, through his heart, bounce around in his stomach, etc., etc.). Evan and I slid down a very dark and curvy tube slide – not sure exactly what body part it was. It was fun! I think if Cy went down it, and I quote Cy: “Eddie would’ve had some intestinal problems”. The tube was rather narrow. We saved $21.85 last night! Due to family night – all entrances was just a dollar per person. WOW!! I think Evan was over stimulated by everything. There were so many kids, both big and small; he ransacked some of them! Cy and I were exhausted by the time we reached our van. Talk about body aches and pain…I took an Aleve and called it a night! I felt it even worse after my RPM class this morning. Does everyone feel old, or is it just me?

Feel free to make comments on my blog…

Happy Birthday to my little sister –LANI!!

A nice weekend

Evan turned 20 months on Saturday. We spent part of the morning at a "Parents as Teachers" meeting at Irmo HS - The Village. A wonderful teaching experience and getting involve with your children as they explore new toys and activities. It was pretty neat to see Evan learning how to finger paint and play with play dough. His paintings and scribbles are absolutely beautiful. I'll have to post a picture of it in my next blog. He also tasted the paint. Started out with the yellow, then green, then red, then blue. The green must have tasted really good, because he smeared it on his curly hair too! By the time we left, his hands were stained blue, yellow, red and green. Very colorful!!

This morning as we left the house to start our day - I told Evan to say bye to daddy. He said in a very clear voice, exactly that - "Bye, bye daddy". Cy could only "sigh" and say "oh...he's so cute". Now doesn't that just melt your heart? I'm sure those who are reading this and have children of their own can relate.

BIG SHOUT OUT TO FRIENDS DONNA & ED WHO WILL BE WELCOMING THEIR LITTLE BOY JACK INTO THIS WORLD NEXT MONDAY! WOO HOO!

One will have to share this b/c I'm raging inside. I went to church yesterday and someone came up to me to "congratulate me on expecting". YEAH - me expecting?? Hah! Is that a joke? I laughed, but was very torn inside. Apparently, they heard this two weeks ago. I'm assuming that they have me mixed up with someone else. At least, that's what Cy has said over and over again. I can't imagine being preggo now...seeing that I just calculated that I've lost a little over 35 pounds and still counting. Then that afternoon, my mother calls and asks me if we were expecting?? Maybe God is preparing us with all this conversation going on. I can assure you all that I am not expecting - at least not now.

The "Early Bird" was literally early!

My normal Friday routine is to get up at 4:30 am, get ready and head off Gold's Gym. Actually, I normally do this every weekday except on Monday's - that's my off day. This morning, I woke up at 4:30 - but didn't feel like going to the gym. Instead, I remained all cozy and warm under the covers - and way clear on the other side of our king size bed (Cy is still battling bronchitis). At 5 am the baby monitor went off and I can hear Evan (Early bird) in his room babbling on and on. I thought, ummm...I'll just stay in bed, because he normally falls back asleep. Not so in this case. At 5:30 am - due to Evan still chatting away and I couldn't go back to sleep - I got out of bed and checked on Evan. The boy was just talking up a storm.

Eventually, I wind up making breakfast - Hawaiian pancakes. Cy crawled out of bed, made his presence to the breakfast table, ate, then went back to bed. Now, I know what you all are thinking - "WHAT THE HECK?". He normally helps me out with Evan and all the running around stuff that I do in the morning....but he's sick. So, he has a very, very, very good excuse for going back to bed. I just didn't want his pancakes to get cold. My mom ALWAYS made sure that we were sitting at the table when she made pancakes. "They don't taste good cold", is what she would say. :)

Even though I woke up early, I managed to get out of the house way behind schedule - dropped Evan off at Lynn's house - and get to work exactly at 8:30 am. My goal is to get to work either early or ON TIME this year. I tend to run on "Hawaiian time" when it comes to work.

It's FRIDAY!! Yiipeee!! Have a great weekend.

WOW!! FIRST TIME EVER!!

WOO HOO!!!

As a proud mother (and father too!) -- I have to share this simple news! Evan went on the potty this morning and HE DID IT! Yes - he went #1. LOL... we're so proud of him. Not that we are pushing him to get potty trained so soon, but our pediatrician said we should at least introduce it to him. He knows the word potty, now if we could get him to do this daily - that would be great! He's only 20 months -- we definitely are NOT pushing him to be trained -- just letting him have some experience.

Also, my coworker helped me get this blog site going - he's so cool for helping me on this. I was getting frazzled!! Here's Evan on his riding horse. He got this for Christmas from his great-grandparents.

Another attempt

My first blog...well - my second attempt. :) It's about 7:30 pm and I have a little bit of time to myself while Evan is watching Veggie Tales and Cy is eating dinner - while watching Evan too!

I'm going to try to post this to see what happens. Remember, this all new to me. Have a great night!
